Have you ever had one of those pivotal moments, when you wake up and all of a sudden everything feels slightly different? Whether it is a change in the weather, or a shift in your heart, life is full of seasons. How do you adjust to a new season, especially if it promises hardship and pain? What is the purpose of seasons and how do we get the most out of them?
Some seasons you never want to see the end of. If we talk about it in a literal sense, usually it is the summer time that everyone wants to hold onto. But do you think we would loose our appreciation for these sunny months, if we never experienced anything different?
I am definitely sad to see Summer pass by, but I have learnt a valuable lesson in life... Just as the seasons come and go, Summer, Autumn, Winter, Spring, so do the phases of life, each vital for preparing you for the next. There are times of sunshine and favor, and times of rain and misery, but every season is extremely important and how you prepare yourself is crucial to your survival!
How do you prepare yourself for the next stage of life? Or is it something that always surprises you, leaving you trying to play catch up? I used to be the later, always running a step behind, being a victim of my circumstance rather than a product of my future. I think the most important thing for me to learn, was to accept each season with grace; being content in that moment of life while learning its motive.
When we accept our seasons, it actually empowers us to be the best we can be in amongst them. Even in a tough season, we can accept what has happened, and then work hard on learning something from where we are, becoming a stronger person for it.
If we live in denial of the seasons, then we are forever dismissing the need to evolve, change for the better, learn and grow wiser! Seasons are an incredible force of cultivation. You can find so much strength and character in one season, then grace and warmth in another. Every season has a significant purpose.
If we look at our animal kingdom, many take advantage of the warmer months and mate in Spring, so their babies are growing when food it plentiful. Then in the colder months, they migrate, hibernate or have prepared by gathering food while they had it in abundance. It seems so simple in a literal sense, however there are always opportunities in our own lives to take the same careful consideration when it comes to making decisions and taking direction. It is all about preparing for the various chapters of life behind each turn of time, while still enjoying the moments within them.
What season are you in at the moment and how are you making the most of it?
